Cute&A

with Pizza Night Pals Founder, Patti Andrews

How are you?
I am good! Thank you so much for asking. You are very polite. We are embracing this time together as a family, even if we get a little cranky with each other. Our motto is Always love.

Do you like any vehicles? My favourite kind of vehicle is a caravan! We have one called Ladyhawk.

What is a pen pal? Why are we doing this? What will it be like when I send it to my friends? How do I send cards to my friend? A pen pal is a friend who you write to but may never even meet! You might email them a drawing or pop them a letter in the post (you need a stamp! WHOA). You get to know them this way instead of meeting them at school or at the playground. They might teach you their favourite recipe or send you a picture of some mountains near their house. How cool is that?

Who is my pen pal? Over the next week, as I receive everyone’s special pal credentials, I will send you an email to introduce you!

Where do you live? I live by the sea with my family between Sydney and Brisbane. There are no traffic lights in the town but lots of birds, lizards and butterflies. Sometimes a bush turkey comes into our back yard. At night I can hear the ocean.

What will happen if my pen pals live in different countries? How will I be able to under stand their language? At the moment all of the Pizza Night Pals speak English, despite being in different countries. But in the future you might have to translate each others letters. You could teach each other how to count to ten in your own language. Very cool!

Where are you from? I was born in Adelaide. Most of my family are still there. I miss seeing them! My Dad is the best cook. My mum is the best at night time stories.

Do you have siblings? I have two older sisters. When I was small I used to say that I was happy to ‘be the loser’ because they would always beat me! They did stick up for me when I bit them though. We are still good friends even though we live in different parts of the country.

Are you really Emily’s sister? Yes!

When's your birthday? My birthday is the third of January! I am hoping we can see people by then because it’s a big one. I will need help blowing out the candles.

If I die what will happen? Oh you are a deep thinker! We might go back to the earth or become a star, no one really knows.

Since I want more than one pen pal, and I answered would you like your pal to be a… [girl] will both of my pen pals be girls? Absolutely! Your wish is my command. I will really try to match you with more than one if you ticked that box but it may not be possible this time around.

What's your favourite colour? Yves Klein Blue!

Is the 🦠 in Australia and are you allowed to have play dates over there? We can’t do play dates in NZ. Good question! We do have cases of Coronavirus in Australia. The curve is flattening so we need to limit our contact and travel, so playdates are also cancelled here. We can talk on video or send things in the mail. That is why Pizza Night Pals was invented!

What do you like to do? Look at the new leaves in my garden. Draw pictures. Cook. Go for walks. Collect plants. FaceTime family. Get sand in my toes. Hug my two kids. See my friends. Stand in the ocean (I am not a great swimmer).

Can I have a cat pen pal? No. That is a pat pal.

Do you have any pets? Not at the moment, but we are thinking of getting two goldfish! We are not really pet people. We are better at being plant people.

Do you like doing mathematics? I do but my brain isn’t great at it! I am re-learning a lot from my kid, Louis, who has just started school. He LOVES mathematics so much he wakes up early just for math sheets.

What’s your favourite show? BLUEY! Also a show called Fleabag but that is for adults. It’s not another show about a dog, there’s a fox in it though.

Got any good jokes? How does the moon cut his hair? Eclipse it.

You brought a smile to a little face that hasn’t managed one (aside from fart jokes) in a while!
